Willie Edward Caldwell, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, surrounded by his family in Redlands, California. He was born on July 24, 1952, in Alabama to Mazie Pearl Twilley and moved to California with his family at the age of two, where he spent the majority of his life. Willie proudly served four years in the United States Army, a reflection of his sense of duty and dedication. Following his military service, he worked in the U.S. Forest Service and then he built a long and successful career working for GTE, Verizon and eventually retired as a lineman with Frontier, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in his work. He was a devoted husband for 48 years to his wife Rhea. He was a loving father to his daughters, Teresa and Stefanie and an amazing PAPA to his grandchildren—Andrew, Matthew, Kaylee, and Grace. Being Papa was one of his greatest joys. He loved nothing more than being with his family, creating lasting memories on vacations spent by the lake, along the river, on the beach, and in the mountains. He bravely battled polycystic kidney disease and overcame it through the selfless gift of a kidney donated from his brother, Jim. Though recently diagnosed with colon cancer, he fought with remarkable determination until his body was no longer able to carry him forward. He is survived by his wife Rhea, daughters Teresa Juarez (Jimmie), Stefanie Ankenman (Jon), grandchildren Andrew Juarez, Matthew Juarez, Kaylee Fugate, Grace Fugate, brother Jim Caldwell, brother-in-law Rick Pence (Vida) numerous nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his mother and three siblings. Willie will be remembered as a steady and hardworking man who deeply loved his family. His legacy of service, dedication, and quiet strength will continue through the lives of those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Celebration of life will be held in his honor on February 1, 2026 at the Yucaipa Valley Golf Club from 12-4PM. Casual attire please.
