Thaddeus Edward Ted Allen, Jr.

July 8, 1937 — December 11, 2020

Thaddeus "Ted" Edward Allen, Jr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He entered his heavenly dwelling on December 11, 2020, at the age of 83, with family at his side.
Ted was born on July 8, 1937, the oldest of two children born to Thaddeus and Evelyn Allen of Colbert, Washington. After graduating from Mead High School in 1955, he went on to study at Washington State College for a year prior to joining the US Navy and serving on the USS Diablo Submarine. During his second duty station in New London, Connecticut he traveled cross-country, including hitchhiking from Chicago to Spokane, to propose to Donna Thompson, who attended the same high-school and grew up near the family farm in Colbert. They were married on October 9, 1958. Together they had 4 children: Thaddeus, Travis, Pauline, and Trevor.
After serving in the Navy, he worked in Los Alamos, NM prior to moving to Bremerton, WA where he was a nuclear health physicist for the Puget Sound Naval Station for 18 years. He then worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Chattanooga Tennessee before relocated to Las Vegas, NV to be closer to family. His retirement from the US government after 32 years of services was followed by several years as a private sector trainer, volunteering and enjoying time with his children and grandchildren while settling in his final home in Redlands, CA.
Teds family meant more to him than anything else, something he often mentioned but always demonstrated. He loved spending time with his family- skiing, camping, traveling, and helping them in each stage of their life. He was always available and willing to help guide them in car repairs, house projects, and important life decisions. And whether it was ice dancing on the frozen lake with his wife, auto-crossing, or teaching his grandchildren how to drive his prized Fiat; Ted loved to have fun. He was unendingly proud of each of his children and grandchildren. He lived a full life and left an indelible mark on those who loved him and knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna; his son Travis (Angie) of Lynnwood, WA.; daughter Pauline (Mike) of Redlands, CA.; and son Trevor (Sandra) of Yuba City, CA.; five grandchildren- Thaddeus and Derek Allen, Stacy, Steven, and Brian Bodine. He is also survived by his sister Ann Porter of Kirkland, WA. He was proceeded in death by his parents and son Thaddeus.
There will be a private burial, with honors at Riverside National Cemetery.
The family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to Seattle Childrens Hospital or the Billy Graham Evangelical Association.
