Stewart Lee Hastings

Stewart Lee Hastings (“Lee”) passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. He was born on April 25, 1941, in Merced, California. Stewart was raised in San Francisco during his childhood years, graduating from Lincoln High School and San Francisco City College. He proudly served for 4 years in the United States Navy (1961-1965) on the USS Hornet. Stewart was employed with the Veterans Administration for 30 years, serving in Long Beach, CA; Roseburg, OR; Portland, OR; and Loma Linda, CA where he retired in 1991 as a Director of Canteen Services.

Stewart was a member of The Boy Scouts of America and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor for his faithful dedication to the organization. He was also a member of the US Veterans of Foreign Wars, the USS Hornet Alumni and the American Legion Post #106. After retiring from the VA, he went on to serve as a school crossing guard for the Redlands Unified School district for 12 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast, cheering on his favorite teams, the San Francisco 49ers, LA Dodgers and USC!

Stewart is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard A. Hastings and Matilda (“Tillie”) Marie Starck Hastings and his late brother, Robert Hastings. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Adrienne E. Hastings and his children: Lisa (Hastings) Stringo (Leslie) of Port O’Connor, TX; Robert Lee Hastings of Redlands; and Grandchildren, Madison Eileen Stringo, Keelin Nicolas Stringo (Allisa) and great grandson, Marshall Boyd Stringo.

Memorial services are pending and will be announced at a later date. His final resting place will be at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stewart Lee Hastings’ name to LLUMC (Loma Linda University Medical Center Cancer Center) or Redlands Community Hospice.
