Steven Edward Gray

Steven Edward Gray, born on August 4, 1963, at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Riverside. He was the beloved first child of Patricia A. (Williamson) Gray and Alvin L. Gray, Jr.

Growing up in a military family, Steven spent his early years in both England and Germany, where he developed an appreciation for history and culture. He cherished his time visiting iconic landmarks such as Stonehenge, Hadrian’s Wall, Edinburgh Castle, the Tower of London, and the majestic Rhine River Castles. These experiences cultivated a sense of wonder and adventure that he carried throughout his life.

Steven's commitment to community was evident from an early age. He was an active member of a Boy Scout troop in Alexandria, Virginia, where he proudly participated in laying a memorial wreath each year on George Washington’s Tomb. Among his many scouting adventures, his time at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico stood out as one of his most cherished experiences.

In his continued spirit of service, Steven volunteered with Redlands Community Hospital as a Tram Driver and dedicated his time to keeping Caroline Park clean with the City of Redlands. He developed a deep affection for the City of Redlands, where he made lasting connections with its residents.

Professionally, Steven found fulfillment working for the San Bernardino County Library System. His last position at The Yucaipa Library allowed him to foster a genuine bond with the communities he served, especially through his beloved Lego programs that captivated and inspired children. His passion for understanding and sharing knowledge in the field of computer science was a testament to his dedication to education.

A proud alumnus of Redlands High School, Crafton Hills College, and California State San Bernardino, Steven's journey was shaped by his love for learning and exploration.

He is survived by his loving parents, Alvin Leroy Gray, Jr. and Patricia Ann Gray, and his sister, Karen Gilliam (Mike), Deborah Davis, Stephanie Cooper (Tony), his niece Haley, his nephews Luke, Zach, Ethan and Noah, his cousins Katy, Brad and Becca and other relatives and dear friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, adventure, and connection will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
