Sharon Louise Alexander

February 16, 1945 — April 12, 2024

Sharon Louise Alexander, 79, a 48-year Redlands resident, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024.

A Southern California native, Sharon graduated from Torrance High School (where she was Homecoming Queen) and attended El Camino College.

In 1965 she married Dick Dawson. Daughters Karen, Kim and Kelly benefited by being loved and nurtured by their birth parents and by Donna Dawson (Dick’s second wife) and Ray Alexander (Sharon’s second husband).

Sharon relocated to Redlands in 1975 and embarked on her professional career as a Realtor obtaining her Real Estate license and later earned her broker’s license. During her lengthy and successful career she earned many awards and commendations including Top Sales Associate at Coldwell Banker Realty Center.

She married Redlands Realtor Ray Alexander in 1982. With that, she seamlessly transitioned from a mother of three to a mother and stepmother of six. She doted equally on all six of her children and stepchildren. Her reservoir of love never reached “empty.”

Sharon and Ray were married until his passing in 2019.

Sharon is remembered by her family as a loving, caring and supportive role model. Outgoing and personable, she relished hosting family get-togethers and office parties, which often included amazing food and highly competitive but good-natured backyard volleyball matches. Her passions were many: she was an avid card player who played weekly with family and friends, a voracious reader, loved NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys, and was a lifelong, diligent crafter, having learned to sew, knit and crochet from her mother.

She believed in “dressing for success” and always took pride in her appearance. Stylish and cultured, she inspired many to always put forth their best whether in casual or professional settings. Her outward self was a reflection of her inner drive to set goals and work diligently to achieve them.

Sharon also had a sense of adventure. Soon after high school graduation, she traveled solo to Europe for three months, sightseeing and meeting locals in nine countries. The love of travel never left her; subsequent “mom-daughter” destinations included various California sites, Chicago, West Virginia and visits to family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents Norm and Hazel Radi; brother Ted White; her first husband, Dick Dawson; and her second husband, Ray Alexander. She is survived by her brother Bill White (Judy); daughters Karen McClain (Tom), Kim Dawson, and Kelly Brady (Ken); stepsons Steve Alexander (Cheryl), David Alexander (Susan), and Gary Alexander; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends and associates are invited to a Celebration of Life for Sharon Alexander on Saturday, May 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 1717 Morning Dove Lane, Redlands.
