Robert Kent Jones

Dr. Robert Kent Jones was born on February 17, 1950, in Loma Linda, California to Lenoa Kent and Robert Milton Jones. During Kent’s formative years, the family lived in California, Washington, Texas, and Oregon, ultimately returning to California.

Kent received two Bachelor's degrees, two Master's degrees, and a Doctor of Church Music.

Kent’s music positions varied over the years. He played the longest at Temple Beth Ohr and became more interested in bringing to his life the richness, rhythm, and significance of the Biblical Old Testament historical traditions, continuing them for the rest of his life.

He worked in six radio stations for almost 20 years. Kent taught courses on the university level at the Pacific Union College—White Memorial Campus (PUC—WMC) and at California State University, Los Angeles. He also taught private lessons in piano and organ.

While at PUC--WMC, Kent met, fell in love with, and married Lenoa Michelle “Micki” Rios who was teaching nursing in the same program. They were married for 36 years.

Kent passed peacefully to his rest surrounded by family on September 9, 2026, at the Arcadia Care Center following an extended illness.

Kent is survived by his wife, Lenoa Michelle “Micki,” her siblings Norval (Gladys) Rios, David (Alma) Rios, Toni (Gary) Crowley, nieces and nephews, cousins Carolyn Jo Wear, her children and grandchildren, LeeAnn Miller, her children and grandchild, James Kent, his children, Ronnie Kent and spouse, his children and grandchildren, Becky Smith (Bob) and children and numerous other cousins, their children, and grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. in the Mortuary with the service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park will follow.
