Robert D. Clinton Obituary
December 13, 1931 – February 26, 2026
Robert D. (Bob) Clinton, 94, lifelong resident of Redlands, died on February 26, 2026.
Bob was born on December 13, 1931, at his home in downtown Redlands, at the corner
of E. State Street and 9th Street, now the Redlands Citrus Center building. Bob’s
amazing work ethic developed young, selling newspapers as a child during WWII for the
Examiner at the corner of State Street and Orange, and in high school working at the La
Posada Hotel. Bob attended Redlands schools and graduated from RHS in 1949. He
attended Valley College upon graduating from high school, but, due to the Korean War,
he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Alaska. When Bob returned from
Alaska, he married the love of his life, Earlene Morgan. Bob began his career in 1954
working for San Bernardino County, where he eventually spearheaded the landmark
project to implement the county’s first integrated digital communications network,
before retiring after 35 years of service. Never known for complacency, Bob soon
launched himself into a real estate career. After several years, he left selling real estate
to serve his aging parents and in-laws. He never tired of serving others and was
recognized as the longest-serving Kiwanian at the age of 92. Bob was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Redlands in his early years and later joined and served the First
Congregational Church of Redlands. Bob is predeceased by his parents, three brothers,
Alfred, Kenneth, and Bill, and his sister Pearl (Penny) Spencer. He is survived by his
wife of 70 years, Earlene Clinton; son, Larry (Julie) Clinton; daughter, Cathy (Greg)
Munoz; and three grandchildren, Carly Clinton, Clinton Munoz, and Morgan Munoz. He
was also very dear to his 7 great-grandchildren. Bob will be interred at Hillside
Memorial Park in Redlands, California. His services will be held on Saturday, March 28,
at 11:00 am, at the First Congregational Church of Redlands.
