It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Rebecca Vangelene Goins, who passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 43.
Rebecca, fondly known as Becca, was truly one of a kind. She was stubborn and feisty, but also incredibly generous, sweet, loving, and kindhearted. She loved deeply, cared fiercely, and had a way of leaving an impression on the people fortunate enough to know her.
Becca had a special love for children and found her calling as a preschool teacher. Her caring heart was evident in the way she nurtured, taught, and loved the little ones entrusted to her care. Throughout her career, she touched the lives of many children and families, and the love and kindness she gave will continue to live on through them.
Of all the roles Becca held in her life, being an aunt was one she treasured most. Her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy, and no matter how old they became, they would always be “her babies.” Even when they were 26 years old, Becca still lovingly referred to them that way. To her, they would never be too grown up to be loved, worried about, spoiled, or proudly claimed as Aunt Becca's babies. She loved each of them fiercely and took tremendous joy in being part of their lives. Being Aunt Becca wasn't simply a title to her—it was a part of who she was.
Becca also demonstrated extraordinary strength and determination throughout the final years of her life. Her journey began with unexplained pain nearly five years ago, followed by a diagnosis four years ago that changed her life. In true Becca fashion, she fought—stubbornly, fiercely, and with determination. Even during the most difficult days, the qualities that made Becca who she was remained.
But Becca's life will never be defined by her illness. She was so much more than what she fought.
She was a daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, teacher, and friend. She was feisty and stubborn. She was generous and sweet. She was kindhearted and loving. And above all, she was deeply loved.
Becca is survived by her father, Bradford David Goins, and his partner, Kelley Radke; her sisters, Jessica K. Straw and Michelle A. Torres; her brothers-in-law, Joshua Straw and Hector Torres; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Hannah Burr and her boyfriend, Kent Swilley; David Burr and his fiancée, Mallory Rocha; Connor Burr; Chase Burr; Sophia Torres; Carter Straw; and Colton Straw—her “babies,” no matter how old they became. She is also survived by her Aunt Bernice Crim and Uncle Bob; her cousins, Randall Crim and his girlfriend, Carol Thach, Patsy Clark, and Lori Sopher; as well as extended family and many friends who loved her dearly.
Becca was preceded in death by her loving mother, Kathleen Goins, who passed away in 2016, and her cousin, Robert Crim, who passed away in April 2026. Their memories remained an important part of Becca’s life and of the family she loved so deeply.
Although 43 years was far too short, Becca filled those years with love, determination, laughter, generosity, and countless memories. Her family will remember her not simply for the battles she fought, but for the person she was—the stubborn and feisty sister, the loving daughter, the devoted teacher, the incredibly proud aunt, and the sweet and generous woman with a truly kind heart.
Our lives will never be quite the same without her, but neither would they have been the same without having had her in them.
We will carry Becca with us in our stories, our laughter, our memories, and in all the little moments that remind us of her. Her love will continue through her family, through the children whose lives she touched, and especially through “her babies,” whom she loved with her whole heart.
Becca will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
