Raymond Silva Jr. was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born in Galveston, Texas on August 3rd, 1945, to Dora and Raymond Silva, Sr. He was the oldest of six siblings (two brothers and three sisters).
He passed away on October 18th, 2023, after a long and hard-fought illness surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother (David).
In life, he enjoyed dancing, listening to Tejano and Country music and he loved the Dallas Cowboys. He was a fan of classic cars and could often be found at the local car shows along with his award-winning ’53 Chevy pickup, featured in a variety of print, media, and the films “How to Make an American Quilt”, “Apollo 13” and “My Girl 2”. “Old Blue” was one of his most prized possessions.
Full of a love of life, he cherished his family and friends. In his mind, family was the most important thing and he proved that every day of his life. If you were a friend, he treated you like family. If you were family, he would do whatever he could to make you smile. He loved to laugh and could never pass up the chance for a good joke. Even though he could get a little hot tempered at times, you couldn’t help but love him.
Having moved to California in 1966, he quickly met the love of his life, and wife, Irene Silva. Married for over fifty years, they lived a life filled with love, happiness, friendships, and travel. Together they have two children, Raymond Silva III, and Denise Adame (Henry). They could regularly be seen at dinner with friends, attending dances and at the casino. While their travels took them across the United States and various international destinations, one of their favorite trips was their annual attendance at the Tejano Music Convention in Las Vegas. When they weren’t out enjoying life, they could be found at home dancing together in the living room, happy and unaware of anything else around them.
Raymond leaves behind his wife (Irene), his children (Raymond and Denise), four grandsons (Raymond IV, Christian, Jacob, and Ian) and one granddaughter (Jessica). He also leaves behind three sisters (Nora, Joanne, and Dora) and one brother (Max); not to mention countless friends and extended family who will miss him greatly.
He will be laid to rest on November 9, 2023. Visitation and service will be held at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands, CA at 11:00 am followed by graveside service at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands, CA at 2:00 pm.
