O.D. N. Lorne Muth

Lorne Muth passed away on March 15, 2016 in Loma Linda. He died peacefully surrounded by his family. Lorne battled cancer with courage, determination, and hope. His first love was his family, but also his friends, his free eye-care clinic in Mexico, and his traveling with his family in his motor home.
Lorne was born in Windsor, Canada in 1945. The family moved to Santa Barbara, California in 1960. He graduated from Santa Barbara High School and attended Southern college of Optometry from 1965-1970. He was a US Marine Reservist from 1963-1972. In college he met his wife, Beverley. They married and then moved to Redlands, in 1970. He had a private optometric practice in Redlands, until 1985, when he moved his practice to Riverside. He retired in 2006.
He continued giving free optometric care to the Mexicans living in the fishing village of Kino, Mexico. He provided vision care for over 4,000 residents who had never had any previous optometric care available to them. Lorne felt a deep personal commitment to community and helping others.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley, his daughter and son-in-law, Vera and Gabe Casas, and two grandchildren; Christopher and Caitlyn. He will be truly missed by his sister and brother-in-law Pearl and Bob Fletcher, and his nieces and nephews; Diann, GraceAnn, and Robert, and their families, and his sister-in-law Barbara Paul.
Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, March 30 at 5:00pm, at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Avenue, Redlands, California 92373. In lieu of flowers please do a good deed, or make a donation to charity.
