Margaret Jean Welklin

Margaret Jean Welklin, known to her friends and family as Peggy.  Born October 15th, 1927 in Mark Center, Ohio to Mary Jackson and Harry Slough.  She Passed away on March 9th , 2017 at 89 years old.
     She attended the Broadview Academy in Broadview Illinois near Chicago, where she met her future husband Howard Welklin.  They dated 6 years during which time she also attended Emmanuel Missionary College, (now Andrews University) earning a two year Bible Worker degree. She and Howard were married on June 2nd, 1946 in Bryan Ohio and had just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last June.
     Howard was a Seventh-Day Adventist Minister for his career and they lived in many places including Lafayette, Indiana, Johnson City, Tennessee, Atlanta, Georgia, Moses Lake and Pasco Washington, San Diego, Redlands, Bakersfield, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks California.  On August 29th 1954 they were blessed with their only daughter Kandy Jo.
They moved to San Diego in 1993 to help raise their only grandchild Kaitlin and be close to their daughter and her husband Rick. They have been members of the La Mesa Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1993.
Peggy is survived by her only Love – Howard, and her daughter and Granddaughter, Kandy Bartlett and Kaitlin Wann.  Her brother Harry Slough and nephews David, Ron and Jerry Slough, and niece Kyla Lamb.
Peggy played piano and sang, loved her dachshunds and enjoyed decorating her home and flower arranging.  She was known for the many pranks she pulled on friends throughout the years, her sense of humor and her infectious laugh.  She was devoted to her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

 A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 17th, 2017 at 11:30 am at Singing Hills Memorial Park, 2800 Dehesa Rd., El Cajon, CA 92019.
