Madalyn Rose Cansler

December 4, 2000 — April 2, 2021

This Good Friday, April 2nd at 12:36pm, at the age of 20, Madalyn Rose Cansler released her last labored earthly breath and inhaled Gods healing whisper as she ascended to heaven. This exchange of breath occurred with her family surrounding her, holding her up to the Father in heaven in ultimate surrender for perfect healing.
At the age of 10, Maddie Cansler was diagnosed with a very rare and merciless glioma type tumor, Oligodendroglioma. With a primary location in the cervical spinal cord. Over the course of a decade, Maddie had to endure several surgeries, proton radiation and countless treatments to save her life. On multiple occasions Maddie was forced to re- learn the tasks we all may take for granted such as walking or holding a loved ones hand. The odds were continually stacked against her. But despite all prognosis, Maddie thrived. The only thing more unrelenting than her tumor, was her faith in Christ. Maddies journey became her testimony; a tool and voice to help others via inspiration and prayer.
Over the years of remission, Maddie became active in music, playing the piano and drums. She conquered all of the hurdles set before in physical therapy, never letting her illness slow her down; walking 3 miles and attending a local gym was more than a victory, especially after being told walking may not be a part of her life. Maddie was a computer wiz, fixing all of the tech woes in her family. She had recently started a blog in hopes to use as a platform of spreading the gospel. Wildwood Calvary Chapel in Yucaipa was were she spent most of her free time. Womens bible study, Saturday night service and serving wherever needed. Her primary service was as a greeter, this was her favorite spot. Maddies magnetic, joy filled smile was known to many as they entered the church sanctuary. She made so many friends of all ages and was willing to share her testimony regularly to provide proof of Gods love and mercy despite her own pain. Always giving God the glory, she graduated high school and started her first year of college. She visited churches in other cities and states all in order to share her story and join in worship. Her accomplishments are countless, but Maddies hope was to be remembered by her love and relationship with Christ. That an illness cannot define you-John 11:4
Maddies transition from this world into Eternity could not have been more poetic or more appropriate to prove and display her love of Christ. Mid 2020 the beast Maddie had battled for so long, returned. But God, in all His glory rescued her when her body could go on no longer-as He knew her earthly work was complete. Her 20 years total here on earth will have an ongoing echo, winning hearts and minds for her Lord and Savior.
The grief Maddies family is enduring is all consuming-but there is hope. Biblical hope and knowledge that seeing and touching Maddie will happen again. There is comfort in knowing that she is with the ultimate healer, protector, and righter of all wrongs. The author of her story has brought her to the next chapter. Maddie is able to for the first time in over 10 years, take a full breath. She no longer has pain in her body or her spirit and she can run through fields of flowers as her heart has always longed for.
Maddie is survived by her parents Jamie and Teresa Cansler, grandmother Patricia Gerdine, sister and brother in-law Samantha and Matthew Cleveland and sister Chloe Cansler.
There is an open invite memorial at Maddies home church, Wildwood Calvary Chapel on Wednesday, April 21st at 10:00am, in Yucaipa, CA.
