Lupe Rios Perez

Lupe Rios Perez was welcomed into the glory of our Heavenly Father on the morning of August 29, 2022,

at the age of 102. Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on May 26, 1920, Lupe made her home in

Redlands for the past 67 years. She always opened her door to family and friends in need of a

home-cooked meal or a place to stay. She cherished and loved her predeceased husbands, David M.

Pidal and John Perez. Lupe is survived by her loving sister, Frances Rios Riguis, and five children, Mary

Jean Lopez, Ruth Arevalo (Rudy), Margaret Rush, David Pidal (Lynn), and John Perez (Sandy), 8

grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and

nephews who loved her dearly.

Lupe was a woman of great faith and strong work ethic. She raised scholarship funds to assist Mexican

American students in higher education for many years and served as the president for “Arco Iris”

Sociedad Protectora Femenil from 1976 to 1978. She was also a member of the chorus of Christ the King

Catholic Church through the decades of 1970 to 1990. On June 26,1996 she proudly became a U.S.

citizen.

A self-taught and excellent seamstress and cook, Lupe loved and excelled at all roles that her job as

lifelong homemaker entailed. She was an exceptionally loving, compassionate, and tireless lady whose

home was always the center of innumerable family gatherings each month of every year. Lupe will be

forever loved and missed. ¡Hasta pronto, cuándo nos permita Dios!

Services will be on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside

Avenue, Redlands, CA at 11:00am. Graveside service will be at Hillside Memorial Park, 1540 Alessandro

Road, Redlands, CA at 1:00pm. A reception will follow at American Legion Post 106, 814 W. Colton

Avenue, Redlands, CA at 2:00 to 5:00pm.
