Lucille Lozano, 85, a lifelong resident of Redlands, passed away in her home on August 16, 2026. She was born on December 13, 1940. She was the eldest of six siblings who lived in Mentone. She was preceded in death by her parents Juan Hernandez Leon and Phyllis Ramirez Leon, and her daughter Phyllis Leal. She is survived by her daughter Theresa Armenta and her son Edward Lozano Jr. She is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel Armenta (Catherine); Arlene Armenta (Christian); Vanessa Armenta-Bolton (Daniel); Anthony Lozano (Amberlee); Nicholas (Kaylee), Zachary (Autumn), and Jessica; and now has four great-grandchildren. Lucille is survived by her sisters Sally Hernandez and Virgina Gautier. She has many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Lucille was a 1958 graduate of Redlands High where she was a member of the acapella choir. She was also a cadet Girl Scout who eventually had her own troop. She enjoyed camping and outdoor activities with her family. Lucille was a sports aficionado who always cheered for her grandchildren at their games and events. She loved going to baseball games and especially cheered on her favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. You could count on her watching the Lakers with her grandson.

She enjoyed her work as an election poll worker. If she recognized you, she greeted you warmly as she handed you a ballot. When Election Day came you could always count on seeing Lucille at your local polling place. Lucille was an avid volunteer at Mentone Elementary, and helped her sister with her MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) activities. She was an excellent cook who kept her mother’s family recipes. She made the best fresh tortillas every day. As she got older she would still help and direct her daughter and family on making the tastiest tamales ever. Lucille loved to play board games especially Mexican Train dominoes. Lucille worked as a housekeeper which gave her plenty of time to take care of her family. She loved pets and always had cats and dogs by her side.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 28 at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel at 1:00 PM followed by a reception at the American Legion Post 650, 1532 Church St. Redlands at 3:00 pm.
