Kathleen Ann Venegas, 71, passed away on June 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 18, 1955, in San Bernardino, California, and grew up in Redlands, the community that shaped her and that she poured so much of herself back into.
From a young age, Kathy embraced life with energy and heart. She proudly marched with the Redlands High School color guard, and spent many afternoons helping her mother at Plymouth Village, where her natural compassion first took root. Those early experiences shaped the woman she became — someone who instinctively cared for others, someone who made people feel seen.
Kathy built a long and respected career as a legal secretary, working in law offices across Redlands, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Yucca Valley. She later stepped away briefly to support Redlands scholarship work, before returning to the profession she loved in her hometown. Her dedication, reliability, and warmth made her a steady presence in every office she touched.
But Kathy’s true legacy was her heart. She was the kind of person who would take anyone under her wing — family, friend, or stranger — without hesitation. Her laughter and smile were unmistakable, the kind that filled a room and stayed with you long after you left. Anyone who crossed her path could tell you that.
Sundays were sacred in Kathy’s world. Between football and NASCAR, she was fully booked — unless, of course, her beloved Chargers were playing your team. In that case, you were in for some good‑natured jaw‑jacking, the kind of spirited banter that made game days unforgettable. That spark, that humor, that competitive joy — it’s something her loved ones will miss more than words can say.
Kathy leaves behind two sons, a grandson and granddaughter who meant the world to her, five siblings, and countless nieces and nephews who adored her. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, who no doubt welcomed her home with open arms.
