Karen Delynn Ortiz passed away unexpectedly on Thursday May 14th 2026 at Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands,Ca at the age of 63. She was born on January 19th 1963 in Lynwood,CA at St. Josephs Hospital to Thomas and Judith Wimmer. She attended Warren High school in Downey,CA and Henley High school in Klamath Falls,Or. Upon graduating from Biola University in La Mirada, Ca Karen began a 36 year Teaching career 20 plus of which she spent working for YCJUSD where she touched the lives of many as not just a teacher but a Choir Director, Cheer coach, Colorguard coach and for a time YCEA President.

On November 18th 1989 Karen married Enrique Ortiz and together they shared 36 years of marriage and raised three children Kira (35) Thomas (33) and Krisalynn (30) as well as experiencing the heart breaking loss of 3 additional children, a daughter and two sons.

Karen was well loved by not just her family but the community and students that she served, she was known to be Kind, Loving, strong willed and a champion for the under dog. She loved to sing and music played a big role in her life. She was artistic and crafty and loved spending time with her family, related or non related she would welcome anyone with open loving arms.

She is survived by her husband Enrique, her Children Kira (Abran), Thomas (Lauren) and Krisalynn ( Tristen) her Grand Children Kaylin (13) Emberlynn (8) Elliot (2) and Dominic (8). As well as her father Thomas Wimmer , Sisters Dori ( Dennis) and Elleen (Ed) and Brother Matthew (Jenny), 10 Nieces ,8 Nephews and multiple Grand Nieces and Nephews.

Karen was predeceased by her daughter Karianna and two sons, two Nieces as well as her Mother Judith Wimmer.
