Judy (Judith Ann Kabrick) Rosaasen was born on February 25, 1944, in Takoma Park, Maryland, the eldest child of Howard and Henrietta Kabrick. Soon after, the family returned to Spencer, Iowa, where Judy became a big sister to brother Ralph. She cherished summers biking to the pool or library and discovered a lifelong love of reading and writing that she later passed along to her children and grandchildren.
Judy’s high school years took her to Oak Park and Maplewood academies, where she met Edward Rosaasen, the young man who would change her life. The couple happily married in the summer of 1966 at Spencer’s First Baptist Church and then continued their studies together at Columbia Union College in Maryland. Judy graduated with a nursing degree in 1967. During her career, she held many roles, including a nursing teacher and an administrator.
Judy and Edward settled first in Des Moines, Iowa, and welcomed Lisa (1970) and Matthew (1972). Two months after Matthew’s birth, they moved to Madison, Tennessee, where Jonathan (1975) and Heather (1979) joined the family. In 1986, the family relocated to Redlands, California, where Judy continued as a nurse at Loma Linda Medical Center until retiring in 2005.
In retirement, Judy devoted herself to her children and 10 grandchildren, delighting in finding perfect gifts—always on sale—and remembering every birthday and anniversary with a Hallmark card or gift.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ralph. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Edward, her four children—Lisa, Matthew, Jonathan, and Heather—and their spouses, her 10 beloved grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and the extended “Rosaasen Clan.”
