Janet Campbell Jardine

Janet Campbell Jardine passed into eternity on Monday, April 27, 2026 in Redlands, California. She was 85 years old. Born on May 3, 1940 in Buffalo, New York, to Arthur and Doris Jardine, Janet graduated from Riverside High School in 1958. She grew up by the Niagara River in Western New York, where the foundations of her generous and curious spirit were laid. Janet was a therapy aide at the New York State Psychiatric Hospital for much of her career. Whether it was the people of her neighborhood, those she met on travels across the world, or the strangers she encountered along the way, Janet had a rare and natural gift. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and leave them feeling like an old friend.

Janet’s love of travel took her far and wide, and wherever she went, she brought people in, returning home not just with memories, but with new friends and a richer understanding of the world around her. That openness and vigor never left her. It was simply who she was. Her favorite pastimes included photography, snorkeling and gardening.

Hardworking and quietly strong, Janet was a beacon of light and inspiration to her family. She raised three boys on a farm largely on her own, and whatever life threw at her, she somehow remained the calmest person in any room. In her later years, few things brought her greater joy than watching her nine grandchildren grow and flourish. She was immensely proud of each one of them and all they have become.

Janet is survived by her sister, Alice Carver Jardine Ward of Vero Beach, Florida; her three sons: Scott (Beth), Craig (Amy), and Corey (Marianne); and nine grandchildren who will carry her warmth and spirit forward.

A private family celebration of life will be held in California and a future interment in Forest Home Cemetery in Buffalo, New York this August. Details for both services will be shared as arrangements are finalized. To receive updates, please contact the family at janetjardineestate@gmail.com.
