Gloria Ann (Herrera) Stickler, 81, passed away on July 17, 2026, surrounded by family in Redlands, California. She was born on September 28, 1944, in Superior, Arizona. Growing up in Visalia and Bakersfield, California, she relished her role as the eldest of four sisters, cherished her time alongside a large family of cousins, and took pride in being part of the cheerleading team at South High School.
After graduating from high school, she went on to attend Fresno State University majoring in Education and Child Development. She left school to marry and then raise four children, Michael, David, Kristin, and Jennifer. The family moved to Redlands, California in 1977, where Gloria volunteered in her children’s schools and activities, and was active in First Baptist Church of Redlands and Women’s Bible Study Fellowship.
Later in life, Gloria returned to college to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Social Science at California State University, San Bernardino in 1997, followed by her Master’s degree in Social Work in 2001. Throughout her education and career, she dedicated herself to supporting victims of sexual assault, first interning in clinical settings, then volunteering with the San Bernardino Police Department, and later working for the Riverside County Department of Mental Health. But her most precious role in life was being “Nana” to her five granddaughters.
Gloria is survived by her children: Michael Stickler of Anaheim, California; David Stickler of Houston, Texas; Kristin (Ryan) Bowling of Redding, California; and Jennifer (Timothy) Dawson of Redlands, California. She is also survived by her granddaughters: Sierra (Nate) Rodriguez, Abbey (Keahni) Cheeseman, Amber Bowling, Morgan Dawson, and Kaitlyn Dawson; as well as her sisters, Patricia Arleen Herrera Flores of Menifee, California, and Barbara (Gary) Smith of Rowland Heights, California.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Dora Herrera, and her sister Dorothy Kathleen Herrera Settlage.
Gloria loved her family, her granddaughters, her sisters and extended family. She will be remembered as a funny, strong, and honest woman, with an unwavering faith in God.
Services will be held on August 16, 2026, at 10 am at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel 703 Brookside Ave Redlands, California 92373. All who knew and loved Gloria are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
