Yucaipa

Elizabeth L. Dargitz passed away on April 6th, 2026. She was born on August 11, 1943 in St Petersburg, Florida. Betty grew up in Tucson Arizona and married Roger Dargitz in 1962. She is survived by her son, Mark, daughter Kim, 2 grandsons, Brandon and Logan, and 2 great-granddaughters.

The family moved to California in 1966, first choosing Orange County. Betty worked at the City of Garden Grove, first with the senior citizen center and later with parks and recreation. She was also actively involved with Girl Scouts and teaching tiny tots. Later, they moved to Running Springs for 27 years, where Betty ran several plant nurseries, and was involved in multiple garden clubs, including spearheading the San Bernardino Mountain Arboretum. Betty retired to Yucaipa and lived there for the last 17 years, spending the summers in Big Bear. She loved both the beach and the mountains, choosing Yosemite as one of her favorite destinations along with San Clemente Beach. Gardening was always her passion as she felt at one with nature. Betty enjoyed arts and crafts, including quilt making and Native American baskets, blankets, and gourd carving. She attended local and national plays, and was a long-time Betty Boop, Sock Monkey, and Elvis fan. She always held faith, family, and friends closest to her heart.
