Edward W. Braga

Edward Wayne Braga, of Redlands, California, has passed away at age 88. He is survived by his beloved wife Joann, son Dennis Braga, son Matthew Braga and wife Jayne, and grandchildren, Scott and Brooke Braga. Wayne was born on August 2nd and attended Redlands High School, where he was Vice President of the Associated Student Body and a lettered member of the football, basketball, and baseball team. Wayne was an avid sports fan, and continued his love of athletics throughout his life. After high school, he attended Orange Coast College, where he was named Athlete of the Year in 1953. He went on to play one season in the minor leagues with the Boston Red Sox organization. Wayne married Joann Farrington on September 26, 1954, at Sacred Heart Church in Redlands, now Holy Name of Jesus. Soon after, he began his 40-year long career with Stater Brothers. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, sharing meals with his family, and watching and attending sporting events of any kind. Aside from his sports hobbies, Wayne was an integral member of his parish and attended Sunday mass on a regular basis. He will be remembered for his gentle nature and overall honest outlook on life. Wayne was a wonderful father and proud grandfather, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Private services will be at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on Olive Street in Redlands, California on Monday, September 20th at 9:30 am.
