Duel Martell Burris

Duel Martell Burris, 88, passed away peacefully at home April 6, 2013. He was a resident of Colton where he hand-built their family home and lived for 44 years; moving to Yucaipa in 1995. He owned an ice delivery business in Oklahoma when he met Wanda, his wife of 66 years. After high school, he served for three years in the U.S. Army, stationed in India. He always enjoyed telling stories about his adventures and could recall every detail. He was a carman (carpenter) for 38 years at Santa Fe Railroad and enjoyed woodworking and welding. Martell is survived by his wife; Wanda, son; Steven, daughter; Marla, grandsons; Jeff and Mark Hughes, and great-grandson; Brandon Hughes.
