David Franklin Eason, 87, of Redlands, California, passed away suddenly at his home on October 28, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, man of faith, and community volunteer, David leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of generosity, service, and love.
Born in Marthaville, Louisiana, David proudly served in the United States Army before beginning a distinguished 30-year career with the Air Force Audit Agency. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Auburn University and was respected by his colleagues for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication.
David and his beloved wife, Jane, made Redlands their home in 1971. They shared nearly 47 years of marriage before her passing in 2010. Although he deeply missed Jane, David found comfort and happiness in his Christian faith and the belief that they would someday be reunited in heaven-a reunion he looked forward to with a joyful heart.
David is survived by his children, Charles Eason (Angela Eason), Frances (Eason) Cazas (Ramiro Cazas), and Mike Eason (Cindy Eason); and his five grandchildren, David Juneau, Daniel Cazas, Grace Shane, Kaitlin Cazas, and Alexa Eason. His family was the center of his life. He cherished time with his grandchildren, attending their activities and celebrating their accomplishments. He regularly called to check on his children, expressing his love through his steady presence and thoughtful actions.
One of David's greatest legacies was his extraordinary dedication to Redlands Baseball for Youth (RBY). For more than 40 years, he served on its Board of Directors, including 30 years as treasurer. His tireless fundraising efforts helped expand the program and provide opportunities for generations of young athletes. He was particularly passionate about assisting families who struggled with registration fees, believing that every child deserved the opportunity to participate in youth sports regardless of financial
circumstances.
In recognition of his decades of exceptional service, Field 2 at Redlands Community Park was named in his honor. This lasting tribute reflects the profound impact he made on the community and the countless children whose lives he helped enrich.
Through RBY, David developed lifelong friendships and earned the respect of fellow board members and volunteers who valued his mentorship, wisdom, and unwavering commitment. Young athletes he coached over the years often greeted him warmly long after their playing days, a reflection of the lasting relationships he built.
David was also a longtime member of the Redlands Benchwarmers, helping raise funds to support local high school athletic programs. His commitment to youth sports reflected his belief in the importance of teamwork, opportunity, and community.
His Christian faith was central to his life. A member of Pathway Church for more than 50 years, David generously supported youth ministries, children's summer programs, and annual Christmas gift boxes for children in underserved countries. His faith inspired a lifetime of quietly helping others, particularly children and families in need.
David was a man of few words, but a man of immense generosity and action. He never sought recognition for his kindness, preferring instead to make a difference through what he did for others. Whether helping a young athlete, mentoring a friend, supporting his church, or checking on his family, he lived his faith through his actions.
The words of the beloved hymn, "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me," inspired by Matthew 10:29-31, reflect the faith and trust in God's care that were so meaningful to him.
David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church family, and the Redlands community. His legacy lives on through the opportunities he created, the lives he touched, and the family he loved. Those who mourn his passing find comfort in his steadfast faith and his joyful hope of being reunited with
Jane in heaven.
