Carole Anne O'Hara

January 30, 1944 — January 25, 2022

Carole Anne (Hajek) O’Hara, 77, of Yucaipa, Ca, passed away on January 25, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents Emanuel Hajek and Lorraine Curren, sister Shirley Aragon, husband Gerald O’Hara and her youngest son Patrick O’Hara.

She was born in Menominee, Michigan on January 30, 1944, the third of five children. Carole and her family remained in the Midwest until they relocated to Torrance, California when she was about 10 years old. She loved her brothers and sisters very much and over the years remained close with all of them, either living near or visiting often, but always a big part of their lives. As a young girl she was sweet, little Carole Anne with a big heart but a bigger temper. Her younger brothers remember times they teased her until she chased them around the house with whatever item she could use as a weapon, thankfully they were faster than her but they knew not to let their guard down until she cooled off. Her sisters, her best friends throughout her life, remember the fire in her, but mostly remember how close they were, and all the times they spent raising their young families together.

In 1966 Carole married Gerald John O’Hara and over their 55 years of marriage, until his passing in July 2021, raised a beautiful family of 8 children together.

Carole was a full time mother and homemaker as well as a full time contributor to the family flooring business she ran with her husband. Her ability to taxi her eight children to soccer, baseball, football and many other activities, as well as cook homemade meals for a party of 10 (and usually a few friends or wayward strangers who were always welcomed to enjoy a home-cooked meal) was nothing short of amazing. The O’Hara home was truly a place where magical memories were made because of the love of a woman who made it her life’s purpose to serve her family with the Lord as her guide and her bible as her manual. Her husband and children were the object of her undying love and devotion up until the moment of her passing.

In the early years of motherhood, Carole enjoyed fixing up her home, often painting a room with curlers in her hair and a baby on her hip. She also enjoyed sewing, making curtains for each room and outfits for her girls. In later years, besides lovingly caring for her special needs daughter, her biggest joy was spending time with her family, reading her Bible and listening to Christian music, often sharing both with her children whenever she had the opportunity. To Carole, her children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment and she lived for their happiness.

She is survived by seven of her 8 children; James O’Hara (Sandra), Michael O’Hara (Pilar), Russell O’Hara, Gerald O’Hara Jr (Heather), Judith White (Brian), Dennis O’Hara (Karen) and Elizabeth O’Hara; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister Lorraine Kennedy and brothers Russel and Emanuel (Buddy) Hajek as well as many nieces and nephews, and devoted friends.
