Byron Gene Tate

Gene Tate, 80, passed away on October 5, 2021. He was born on May 1, 1941 to Marion and Alma Hancock Tate in Cross Plains, Texas. As a teenager, his family moved to San Bernadino CA, where he graduated from high school.

After high school, he enlisted in the Air force for 4 years and then continued onto college. He graduated with a degree in engineering from UCLA in 1969.

He was passionate about his career that spanned more than 40 years in the Aerospace industry from TRW to Northrop Grumman. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid member of the Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino. He also loved to cook and bake for his family.

Beloved husband and father, cherished friend, respected colleague and distinguished professional. He was fun, easy going and lovable guy.

He is survived by his wife Donna Tate of 26 years, stepdaughter Christine Fogle, brother Mike Tate, sister Donna Maddox and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Howard Tate.

Gene’s memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 3:00PM with a viewing starting at 2:00PM at the Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel – 703 Brookside Ave., Redlands, CA 92373. His burial service will be held in Comanche, Texas.
