Sharon Gayle Enna Thompson, age 78, of Yucaipa, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Redlands Community Hospital from complications due to pneumonia.  Sharon was born on July 22, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to John Enna and Dora Yslas. She attended El Rancho High School, graduating in 1958, and married William Arthur Thompson on August 9, 1960 in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Sharon furthered her education at Cal State Los Angeles, earned a Bachelor’s of Art in Education, a teaching credential in Early Childhood Education, and taught elementary school in the Los Angeles School District teaching third graders.  After teaching only one year in a formal classroom setting, she had the privilege of being a stay at home mom to focus on raising her children. Even though she loved teaching children in a formal classroom setting and kept up on her teaching credential, her greatest joy came from the title of Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, which includes: 5 children: Mary Elizabeth (Ken - deceased), Dori (William), Marjorie (Matt), William Arthur Thompson Jr., Deanna (Kelly), 47 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, and her little sister Merlyn Joy Enna Croft (Gary Max).
Sharon was an active and very involved member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Yucaipa 3rd Ward, Yucaipa California Stake.  Over her many years of service, she served as Young Women’s President, Young Women’s Counselor & Young Women’s Secretary, Relief Society President, Relief Society Teacher, Activities Chairperson, Seminary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Visiting Teacher, Nursery Teacher, and Primary teacher.
Over the course of approximately 30 years, she worked with the youth in writing plays, lyrics to songs, and chorography to many roadshows.  Sharon’s talents include, writing poetry, teaching, and sewing.  In addition, she was a mentor, a friend, confident, and counselor to many young men and young women.  Some of her hobbies include, yard sales, thrift stores, and attending the beach.  Sharon collected books, elephants, clowns, linens, and eclectic dishes.  Learning and increasing her knowledge, included, learning about the “Mormon” pioneers, reading cookbooks, attending the Los Angeles and Redlands Temple, and reading her scriptures.
Sharon Gayle Enna Thompson, beloved wife, eternal sweetheart, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend will be missed.  We are so grateful for the many individuals at Cedar Mountain that helped with our mother in her care, to the ICU staff at Redlands Community Hospital, especially, Dr. Alokk Shah, to Christian and his staff with Emerson-Barlett for their care, patience and understanding, to San Gorgonio Cemetery, and to the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapman Heights Ward for their generosity and love they have expressed to our family during this time of loss and reflection.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, March 30, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Chapman Heights Ward at 10:00 am.  Interment was at San Gorgonio Cemetery.
