Sarah Jane Whitson

Sarah Jane Whitson, best known as Jane, passed away peacefully at home in Yucaipa on May 19, 2015 She was born in Lake George, CO, April 12, 1923. She was one of six children born to Robert and Elizabeth Read. She moved to Southern California to finish high school in 1941. She met and married her lifetime love, Adron (Whit) Whitson (deceased). While her new husband was off to serve the war in the Navy, she did her part at home as a "Rosie the Riveter". Through the years, in addition to having two children, Jane was a career woman. She worked in retail sales, before her career in banking. She was so successful in banking that in 1964, she became the first woman bank manager in Kern County. She is survived by her son, James Whitson of AZ; daughter Judith Whitson Rubesa of Calimesa, CA; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 11251 Desert Lawn Drive, Calimesa, CA on Friday, June 5th, 2015 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
