Sam S. Mcphail

Sam S. McPhail, 83, suddenly passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009. Born June 22, 1926 in West Frankfort, Illinois, he had been a resident of Yucaipa, Ca for 23 years. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a school teacher in Alton, Illinois for 35 years, and a member of the Alton Area Optimists Club. He was an avid golfer, and member of Redlands Country Club. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, and his father, Matthew. He is survived by his wife, Pauline McPhail, a brother, James (Gladys) McPhail of Clayton, CA, a daughter, Ruth (Gordon) Cockburn of Manitoba, CA and step-daughters, Nancy (Bill) Suhling of Alton, IL, and Vicki (Gordon) Reilong of Sun Lakes, Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Yucaipa on December 4th, 2009 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the United Methodist Church of Yucaipa. Family under the care of Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Yucaipa, CA.
