Robert Miles Morgan

April 15, 1953 — September 2, 2017

Robert M. Morgan (“Morgan”), 64, of Running Springs, Calif., passed away September 2, 2017. ??Born April 15, 1953, in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Daniel Morgan and Doris Vensel Morgan, he graduated from Butler High School in 1971 and from Butler County Community College in 1973.??Morgan served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 21 years before retiring in 1995. He often said he lived by the Marine motto of Semper Fidelis all his life. Whether that meant a faithfulness to his principles, his community, or to his family. What his family learned, was it meant: ‘What you ask of me, not only will I do, I will do in a manner befitting a Marine’. His military service gave him an exposure to a wide array of people with the common ideal of duty and service. Later in his life he would continually seek out friends that held those same beliefs.
?For many years he was involved with the SCA (the Society for Creative Anachronisms) where he was a heavy weapons fighter and earned his Award of Arms for outstanding service to the community. While in the SCA he met Zenah, his partner and wife. After retiring from the Marines, he moved to Running Springs and they were handfasted in 1999. ??Morgan was known to be a strong, quiet man of varied interests, and over the years became adept at many pursuits, including brewing liqueur, woodworking, leather tooling, sewing, candle making, and archery (he made his own bows and arrows).  He was known to live a comfortable life in jeans and flannel, with a cup of coffee always in his hand. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife and good friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching, and cooking (he was famous for his vegetarian chili). He was an avid reader, averaging a book a week. He always looked forward to his mother’s anise cookies, which she would send him every Christmas. He was deeply respected and loved in his community as a man of integrity and compassion.??Morgan is survived by his wife and partner of 28 years, Zenah Morgan-Smith; his mother, Doris Morgan; his brother, David Morgan and his wife, Irene, of Butler; and his niece, Brady Lynn Morgan of Florida.

Robert M. Morgan will be laid to rest with full military honors at Riverside National Cemetery Monday, September 25, 2017, 10:00am.
Funeral service under the care of Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Redlands, California.
He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
