Richard Vega Ortiz

Richard Vega Ortiz, 84, a lifelong resident and native of Redlands, California, passed away peacefully at his home in Redlands on November 4, 2020. He was an agricultural laborer for Crim Ranch in Redlands for many years. He also attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Redlands. He loved cooking for family and was a proud gardener, outdoorsman and a great fisherman.
He leaves behind seven children: a daughter, Bel Ortiz from San Diego, Sam Ortiz, Frank Ortiz and Ron Ortiz from Redlands, Ted Ortiz from Beaumont and Peter Ortiz and Art Ortiz, both from Mentone, California. He is also survived by four brothers, John and Tim Ortiz of Redlands, Chuck and Frank Ortiz of Highland, a sister, Irene Walker also from Redlands, a step-daughter, Debbie Garcia and a step-son, Nick Lozano, both from Redlands. He had 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his little sidekick and constant companion, Missy.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Avenue, Redlands, California. A Rosary will also be held at the viewing on Tuesday at 7:00pm.
A Funeral Mass is planned for Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at 10:00am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1214 Columbia Street, Redlands, CA.
