Phyllis R. Leon

Phyllis R. Leon May 1, 1922-November 9, 2010 Resident of Mentone, California passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Redlands, California. Phyllis was born and raised in Mentone California and graduated from Redlands Highschool in 1973. She worked for many years in the Redlands school district as a bilingual teacher s aide and devoted her life to her children and family. She was one of 9 children born to the late Maria Torres and Pedro Ramirez and was the beloved wife of the late Juan Leon for 46 years. Phyllis will forever be remembered by her loving children Lucille Lozano of Redlands, Patricia Mejia of Vallejo, Sally Hernandez of Redlands, Virginia Gautier of Yucaipa, John Leon of Pacoima, Melinda Timperio of Yucaipa, and Melanie Green of Los Angeles. Her devoted siblings Gloria Alverado of San Bernardino, Tino Ramirez of Redlands, Rosa Gonzales of Redlands, and Guadalupe Vasquez of Redlands, along with 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren as well as other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her Husband Juan Leon, her son Lorenzo Leon, and her son Valentino Leon. Phyllis brought joy to everyone she knew and she enjoyed life and all it had to offer. Her strongest bond was with her family. All the days of her life her front door, her ear, and her heart was there for them. She loved to dance to her favorite Mariachi music, catch a Dodger or Laker game any day of the week and a turnaround to state line was always amusing to her. Phyllis touched the lives of many people with her smile, sense of humor, strength and wisdom. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, November 15th, 2010 at 5pm at Emerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel of Redlands, 703 Brookside Ave, Redlands, CA 92373, 909-793-2311, and her funeral service on Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 at 10am at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Redlands, 1214 Columbia Street, Redlands, California 92374, (909) 792-3695, followed by her burial at Hillside Memorial Park, 1540 Alessandro Rd, Redlands, CA 92373.
