Phyllis June Rigby, 87, died March 6, 2024 in Yucaipa California. She passed away at home with her 3 daughters & caregiver by her side.
Phyllis was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to Roy and Dora Mae Brammer in 1936. Her mother died in a train accident in 1939, when she was about two years old. While her dad was serving in the military, Phyllis was raised by her Aunt Maxine, Uncle Kenneth, and her grandparents, Clemmy and Otis. Phyllis shared a special bond with her Aunt Maxine. When Roy returned from the service with his bride, Olga, the three became a family and they later added two sons, Bill & Jack Brammer. She attended Brazil High School and graduated from Indiana State University. While living in Indiana, Phyllis did secretarial work at United Methodist Church and Riddell National Bank, where she met her future husband, Ron Metz.
In 1957, Phyllis married her first husband, Ron Metz and together they had three daughters and a son. Ron’s job relocated them to southern California, where they raised their family in Rialto. While living in California, Phyllis worked as a teller at Bank of America and finished her career at Southern California Edison. Phyllis married her second husband, Bob Rigby, in 1978 and they lived in Fontana for many years. In 1996, Phyllis moved to Yucaipa, where she spent her remaining years.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Yucaipa for many years. Over the years, Phyllis enjoyed bowling, playing golf, Blackjack, and shuffleboard. She was a huge Dodger & Clippers fan and enjoyed watching their games regularly. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda. But more than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her kitty.
Phyllis was known by others as a sweet, loving and kind lady with sparkling blue eyes. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Metz and her brother, Bill Brammer. She is survived by 3 daughters: Rhonda White (Rob), Debbie Bees, and Claudene Duke (Richard); a brother Jack Brammer, 13 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
