Pamela Lynn Oakley

December 19, 1980 — March 4, 2015

Pamela Lynn (Barnett) Oakley, 34, of 29 Palms, California, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 4, 2015. Pamela was born to Samuel Ernest Barnett and Debra Marie (Norman) Burns in Montclair, CA on December 19, 1980, the youngest of four sisters. She attended Truth Tabernacle Christian School through seventh grade and Southridge Middle School (Fontana) through eighth grade. She attended Yucaipa High School and graduated from Laguna Niguel High School in 1998. Pamela joined AT&T in 1999 at the age of 17. Her position as a customer service representative was one that she enjoyed tremendously and where she made many life-long friends. At the beginning of 2002, when Shawn Ojeda was five years old and Ryan was three years, Pam became Mom and raised both boys as her own. She was their Mother and their champion and, as Shawn says, "Pam was always there, teaching us how to love, be kind, and in general was an amazing Mother." In June of 2010, Pamela met Jeremy Oakley, the love of her life, at The Mission Inn in Riverside, California and they were married a year later on March 14, 2011. Jeremy, serving in the United States Marine Corps moved with Pamela to the Marine Corps Base at 29 Palms, California where they settled into married life. Pamela assumed the role of the Marine wife and supported her husband through an especially tough deployment to Afghanistan. The United States Marine Corps honored Pamela with a Certificate of Appreciation for her unselfish, faithful and devoted service in support of Jeremy's career and contribution to the Corps and Command - something Pamela was especially proud of. While in the military, Pamela prided herself as the 'Head of the House' and Mommy of Scooter, her ancient Persian cat, and Angel, the tiny white Pekingese who ruled the house. In 2012, she started her own business, Wearable Art, creating and selling custom jewelry. Pam went on to further her formal education, attending Copper Mountain Community College, pursuing a degree in Business Marketing. She fiercely supported the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Lakers, the Angels, and San Diego Chargers. She and Jeremy loved being together, especially exploring Sedona, Arizona, a place of peace & natural majesty close to both their hearts. Pamela is survived by her husband, Jeremy Oakley, her Father, Samuel E. Barnett and his wife Sylvia Barnett; her Mother, Debbie Burns and her husband Robert Burns; her sister Kristie Surovik and her husband Joseph J. Surovik and their four sons, Larry, Michael, Johnny and Christopher; her sister Becky Barnett; her sister Angela Oakley and her husband Jason T. Oakley and their daughter Freya Candice Oakley; stepsons, Shawn and Ryan Ojeda; Parents-in-law, Joanne Peterson and her husband, Ken Peterson, and Macon Oakley, Jr. and his wife, Glenda Oakley and their son Christopher. Family meant everything to Pamela and friends were her 'life source'. She lived life to the fullest and had a beautiful, sweet soul. She is fondly remembered for her 'snorting laugh', her fashionable style and her ability to wear high heels everywhere, including Disneyland and the Diabetes 5k Run. Pamela was the Queen of the Selfie and enjoyed capturing her life on Facebook and Instagram. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 0900 (9:00 AM) at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Avenue, Redlands, California 92373.
