Michelle Emily Slater

Michelle Emily Slater, 34, of Rancho Mirage, California passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at home.  She died of drowning due to heart failure.  She was born to Jon William Slater and Myrna Cojohn Slater on Thursday, July 7, 1983 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Michelle was a proud graduate of Redlands High School in Redlands, California, Crafton Hills College in Redlands, California and California State Polytechnic University Pomona in Pomona, California.  Michelle loved cooking and worked at several restaurants as a chef in Southern California and Chicago, Illinois.  Her favorite activities included traveling, skiing, snowboarding, skydiving, soccer, softball, listening to music, playing with her cat (fur-baby) Ernie, anything and everything leopard and shopping.  Michelle is described by family, friends and acquaintances as: caring, adventurous, spunky, positive, excitement about life and work, own fashion sense, feisty, funny and loved to laugh and a resilient cancer fighter.  Michelle is described by her many physicians as amazingly positive, a sparkle in the room, the sweetest and kindest, always smiling, helping other patients, dressed well and cool hair.  She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.  Preceding her in death are her grandfather, Gustive Cojohn and her cousin, Melissa Slater Reynolds.  Surviving is her father, Jon W. Slater; mother, Myrna Cojohn Slater; sister, Jamie Slater Corbett; brothers Jon Slater and William Slater; brother-in-law Shawn Corbett; paternal grandparents, James M. Slater and JoAnn S. Slater; maternal grandmother, Dorothy G. Cojohn; nephews, Brayden, Landon and Nicholas Corbett; niece, Hailey Corbett; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Pathway Church, 611 E. Cypress Avenue, Redlands, California on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
