Marvin Roy Nymeyer

December 10, 1926 — June 25, 2011

Marvin R. Nymeyer (84) went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2011. A resident of Redlands of 51 years, he passed away at home. He was born in San Bernardino on December 10, 1926 and married his wife, Marie, on August 22, 1950. Marvin was a graduate of Redlands Christian School and Redlands High School. He was a member of The River Christian Reformed Church (formerly the First Christian Reformed Church) of Redlands for 84 years, where he served as both deacon and elder. Marvin served his country in the U. S. Merchant Marines during World War II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Marvin was employed by the State of California at Patton State Hospital for 38 years. He began working as a farm hand, then as a truck driver, and finally as Transportation Manager. Marvin s love of agriculture continued throughout his working life and into retirement. He raised livestock and always had a large vegetable garden as well as many beautiful flowers. In his retirement he donated considerable quantities of produce to Joseph s Storehouse. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of 61 years; three sons, Mark of Santa Barbara, CA, Paul of Redlands, and Jim of Mentone; a daughter, Becky Mulder of Redlands; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Ruth Huey of Pittsburg, PA; two brothers, Kenneth of San Diego and Bernie of Banning. Visitation is on Wednesday, June 29 from 5:00 -7:00pm at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands. A celebration of his life will be at 11:00am on Thursday, June 30 at The River Christian Reformed Church of Redlands. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Redlands Christian Home (275 Northgate, Redlands), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (PO Box 7624, Redlands CA 92375), or M.C.C.A. (PO Box 845, Redlands CA 92373).
