In Loving Memory of Marcus Dennis Rogers
Marcus Dennis Rogers, born on January 18th, 1973, unexpectedly passed away at his home in
the city of Highland on December 28th, 2023.
A devoted family man and a loving father, Marcus was preceded in death by his mother Tonya
Rogers and survived by his cherished daughters, Lex Rogers, Kayla Mendenhall, his beloved
son, Marcus King Rogers, his father Walter Rogers, brother Ryan Rogers, his significant other
Theresa Hall, and several Uncles, Aunties, cousins, and loved ones.
Marcus left an indelible mark in the realms of football and basketball, earning numerous
accolades as a student-athlete in Redlands, including All CIF and McDonald's All American
mention.
His basketball prowess extended beyond Redlands High School, leading Long Beach City
College to a state championship. Marcus further showcased his skills at the University of Hawaii
at Hilo, where his passion for the game continued to shine.
In addition to his playing career, Marcus became a respected figure in the world of sports as a
league champion football coach at San Bernardino High School and Colton High School,
leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the young athletes he mentored.
Dedicating over 20 years to the profession of commercial truck driving, Marcus exemplified a
strong work ethic. He also demonstrated a caring heart for troubled teens, working in a group
home dedicated to their well-being.
A true sneakerhead, Marcus curated an extensive collection of shoes, especially his beloved
Nikes. His hat, hoodie, and shoes always matched, with a love for comfort and simplicity that
shined through a colorful personality.
Marcus Dennis Rogers will be remembered not only for his athletic achievements, enduring
work ethic, and effortlessly cool style but also for the warmth and care he brought to his family
and friends. His humor, a constant source of joy, turned even the mundane into memorable
moments. Known for his thoughtful and witty words, Marcus had a unique ability to connect with
people on a deep and meaningful level, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to
know him.
His legacy as a devoted father, outstanding athlete, inspiring coach, and compassionate
individual will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
