Lionel William Houser

August 5, 1938 — October 8, 2018

Lionel Houser, 80, of Yucaipa passed into eternity at home surrounded by family on Monday, October 8th, 2018. He was born August 5th, 1938 in Eldon, Missouri to Gerald and Lena Houser and moved to Colton, CA when he was in junior high. He graduated from Colton High in 1956 and resided in Yucaipa from 1966 to his passing.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 1st Class assigned to the 83rd Fighter Interceptor Squadron. He was assigned to Hamilton AFB and deployed to Taiwan in 1958. He was relieved from active duty on August 11th, 1961.

Lionel worked as a supervisor for Portland Cement for over 30 years. He worshipped Jesus at Packinghouse Christian Fellowship. After retiring, he volunteered for Lutheran Braille Workers, making the Bible accessible to the blind around the world.

He loved to create and collect art, travel, camp, off road, and shoot recreationally. By the end of his life he was actively donating to 20 Christian charities. He will be remembered as being full of witty humor and loud laughs, having deep tenacity and integrity, and loving the Lord with everything he had.

Lionel is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Joanne. His children; Steve and Connie Houser and Sandy Ringhofer and his grandchildren; Katie Quenga, Neil Houser, and Trent Houser.

He will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. Friends and family are welcome to attend a graveside service on October 18th at 11:30am.
