Leslie Eugene Barnes

Leslie E Barnes (Gene) as he was known by family and friends, passed away on February 22,2023 in Redlands CA, just before his 80th birthday.

He was a beloved brother, husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.

Early in his life he served his country in the USAF. Gene spent most of his career working for the State of California as a CHP Officer and an Investigator/District Administer with Alcoholic Beverage Control for a total of 35+ years. He also taught with the SIBC academy at Golden West College.

Gene was predeceased by his oldest son Jeff in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Kathi, of 46+ years, 4 children; Jill Harris, Russel Barnes, Jennifer Arrieta, and Bradford Barnes, 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

His son Bradford said “He lived a life worth living-Shared his knowledge and skills to those along the way. He was a great man.”
