Laura Strong

Laura C. Strong died peacefully at home in Yucaipa on September 21, 2011, aged 90. She was born Laura Caroline O Neill on July 16, 1921 in Tarrytown New York. She served stateside as a member of the female U.S. Naval auxiliary (WAVES) during World War II. She married Hubert Roy Strong, a career Marine officer, and later, a long-time educator in the Colton Joint Unified School District. They were married 64 years before he preceded her in death in 2009. She was a Yucaipa resident for 46 years. A beloved mother to two children, Susan Trenschel of Santa Barbara and Michael Strong of Honolulu, she is also survived by grandchildren Eric Strong, Chris Trenschel, Sarah Trenschel, Dylan Strong, and Austin Strong, as well as great-grandchildren Roy Eric Strong, August Strong and Maxim Strong. Private interment at Riverside National Cemetery beside her late husband.
