Biography
Josephine L. Chavez was born March 19th, 1925 and passed away on May 8, 2016 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Josie was a lifetime resident of Redlands. She was a Citrus Packer for many years at multiple Packing houses in Redlands, Mentone and Oak Glen. Past employers included Dole, Sunkist, Redlands Citrus Heights, and Los Rios Rancho. Josie was an active member of St Mary’s Parish for 75 years. Josie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Her family was blessed by her kind, thoughtful, loving manner as were all that knew her. Josie is survived by her husband Manuel C. Chavez and son Robert L. Chavez and wife Paula J. Chavez, son Rene L. Chavez and daughters Jayne Chavez-Scales, Marie C. Stortz, Susan L. C. Houpy and husband Aaron W. Houpy, sister Virginia Williams, grandchildren Zachariah P. Scales, Jessica M. Hernandez, great grandchildren Margaret J. Scales and Elijah M. Cooper.

Viewing will take place Monday, May 16, 2016, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Ave., Redlands, CA 92373. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016, 10:00am at The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Parish (Formerly St. Mary's Catholic Church), 1205 Columbia St., Redlands, CA 92374. Internment to follow service at Hillside Memorial Park, 1540 Alessandro Rd., Redlands, CA 92373. Reception will be at The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Parish Hall, 1205 Columbia St., Redlands CA.
