James Robert Berry, Jr

James, known as Jim or “Uncle Jim Daddy” by friends and family, was born December 13th 1942 in Price, Utah. His mother, Virgina Louise Berry, raised him alone for the first year while his father, James Robert Berry was overseas during WWII. Years later, his family moved to Brea, California where he picked up a lifelong love of all things car, boat or motorcycle related. Playing high school football, he became known as the “coolest guy with the coolest car and the coolest friends”.
            Just after graduation in 1961, Jim was called to serve a full-time Mission in Santiago Chile for the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints. In 1973, Jim and Maria Elena Vasquez were married and sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Two years later, their first child, Marina Yvette was born. Bringing much joy, Virginia Louise was born 3 years after and the whole family settled in Redlands, California.
            The following years, Jim supported his family working for General Dynamics as an engineering draftsman where he was involved with many far-reaching programs in military technology. Later, he worked for the Riverside County as a cadastral draftsman. Over the intervening years, he found many other areas of interest and means to support his loving family.
            In His later years, he found great joy in being involved with his daughters and grandchildren, church community, and being Mr. Fix-it around the house and home.
Jim enjoyed making fun memories with those he loved. He often took friends and family on camping, fishing and boating excursions. You could find him at any number of classic car shows and he was always the life of the party. Uncle Jim Daddy’s presence will be sorely missed and the lightness he brings to the room will be dimmed by his absence. His family and friends are comforted in knowing he is at peace and surrounded by loved ones and one day they will all be together again.
            Jim is survived by his wife Maria, daughters Marina Newbry and Ginny Babbitt, four grandchildren, sister Louise, and many loving family members.
