James Allen Maloney

August 16, 1931 — March 26, 2017

James (Jim) Maloney, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Jim was born on August 16, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to Evelyn and John Maloney. He graduated from Noel High School in Missouri in 1950, then served four years in the United States Navy. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University, and became a teacher in 1959. He furthered his education by earning his Master's Degree from the University of Redlands in 1974. He and his family moved to Redlands in 1963 and he taught math at Cope Middle School for 25 years. He also served as a counselor there until his retirement in 2005. Cope Middle School’s counseling center was named the Jim Maloney Counseling Center in 2015. This was a great honor for him and serves as a permanent reminder of his legacy. He treasured his years as a math teacher and a counselor and the many friendships he had with his coworkers. Jim's greatest accomplishments were his almost 62 year marriage to his beloved wife, Terry and the family they created together. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, compassion for others, and his love for his family. Jim is predeceased by his parents, siblings Evelyn Browder, Helen Keller, and John Maloney, and cherished son Stephen. He is survived by his wife Terry, daughter-in-law Ann, son John (Katie), daughter Mary (Paul), daughter Anne (Paul), daughter Amy (Rob), his 13 grandchildren 8 and great-grandchildren, siblings Mary Latty and Tom (Rhonda) Maloney.

Services for Jim will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus, Olive Avenue location. Reception to follow at the home of John and Katie Maloney.
