James Alan Brown

May 25, 1954 — January 11, 2024

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on the evening of January 11th, 2024, in San Bernardino, Ca with his family by his side. James was 69 years old and was born in Bloomington, Illinois on May 25, 1954 to Gailen and Martha Brown. He was the second born child of three and is survived by siblings Charles and Sharon. His family moved to California when he was a boy, where he lived until he joined the US Army in 1972. In the Army he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. Colorado is also where he met the love of his life and surviving wife, Janet Brown. They were married 49 years and would’ve celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this March. After leaving the Army, they moved back to California and eventually moved to Redlands, Ca in 1984. They have made a home in Redlands for the past 39 years where they had two children together. James also had another daughter prior. He’s preceded in death by eldest daughter Teresa and is survived by daughter Jennifer, son in law Christopher, son Jarrod, and daughter in law Shannon. He has four grandchildren Tyler, Logan, Hailey, and Savannah, all of whom will miss him dearly, but their love will keep his memory alive.

James started working for the family heating and air conditioning business and continued his career in A/C work until he retired in 2016. He was so smart and intelligent when it came to almost anything technical, or electrical, and was truly the definition of a handy man. He loved cats, muscle cars, nascar, golf, and the outdoors. Over the past decade he spent most of his time with his family and his 1972 Chevy Nova, which he actually raced in amateur drag races. He loved get togethers and often told humorous stories that everyone would listen to intently. James was an honest man, who would often help family and friends fix and repair things without expecting anything in return. He was truly a great man and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. We will keep his memory alive for the rest of our years and he will be missed more than words can truly express.
