Dorothy Mary Jetton

December 7, 1930 — August 28, 2022

Dorothy Mary Jetton, a resident of Yucaipa, California passed away on August 28th, 2022 in the comfort of her home. She was 91 years old. Dorothy was born on December 7th, 1930, in Conemaugh, Pennsylvania to John and Mary Sivi. The oldest of three children, she was born in the same room of their home where her father had been born. She was raised in Conemaugh and Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and New York City, and graduated from Ferndale High in 1948 with honors. After graduation the family moved to Southern California,

settling in South Gate. She started working at age 17 for Atlantic Telephone and Telegraph Company in Los Angeles. Her career path also included working as a secretary at Bethlehem Steel, North American Aviation (builder of F-86 fighter jets used in the Korean War), and Camarillo State Hospital until she retired in August, 1985. On June 12th, 1954 she married James William Jetton, a U.S. Marine, and they shared a wonderful 56 years together. During that time they raised three children, and she would always say “Kids did not come with manuals.” She enjoyed life right up until the end. In her 80’s she was taking writing, art, and water aerobics classes until Covid shut everything down. She completed her last painting just days before she went to be with the Lord. She loved her family, friends, and dogs and was an inspiration to those who knew her. She had a deep love for her three children and grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her son James Kevin Jetton (Susan) of Yucaipa, son Kenneth Wayne Jetton (Linda) of Camarillo, daughter Doreen Denise Miller (Stephen) of Redondo Beach, brother-in-law Donald F. Linder of Riverside, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her dearly beloved husband Jim, her parents, her sister Beverly Linder, her brother John D. Sivi, and her beloved niece Dawn Ann Linder.

A memorial will be held at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Yucaipa, California on September 13th, 2022 at 10am. All who knew her are welcome to attend.
