Daniel Harry Spletzer

Daniel Harry Spletzer, age 69, passed away with the support of his loving family at his side April 1, 2015. He was born in Chicago, IL June 29, 1945 to Harry Carl and Bess Spletzer. He grew up in San Bernardino attending and graduating from Aquinas High School in 1963. He joined the Naval Reserves upon graduation and was assigned to the USS Comstock. He served in Vietnam aboard ship and was discharged honorably from the Navy in November 1968. He married Amelia Anne Reed January 25, 1969 and they had 5 children. Son, Michael (who preceded him in death in February 1987), Daughters Keri and Theresa, and sons Tony and Daniel P.; eight grandchildren, his niece Laurie Robinson of Yucaipa and his sister Kathy Spletzer of O'Fallon, MO. Dan was employed by the County of San Bernardino as an Engineer Tech. in the Flood Control Department and was responsible for creating many maps for all of San Bernardino County during the course of his employment. He had a General Class Amateur Ham Radio License and enjoyed many hours connecting and talking to people all over the world. He recently was studying to get his Extra Class license which would have given him broader accessibility to the airwaves. Dan will be deeply missed by his entire family. Services at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel: 703 Brookside Ave., Redlands, CA 92373 are scheduled as follows: Rosary, Thursday April 9, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.; Chapel Services, Friday April 10, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Desert Lawn Cemetery, 11251 Desert Lawn Dr., Calimesa, CA 92320
