Clyde Lee Roy Arnett

November 14, 1921 — June 24, 2009

Clyde Lee Roy Arnett was born on Nov. 14, 1921 in San Bernardino. He passed away on June 24, 2009 at the age of 87 in a tragic automobile accident that also took the life of his beloved wife of 30 years, Mildred. At the age of five, Lee Roy s family moved to the Ventura area where he attended school through his younger years. The family moved to Yucaipa in 1937 where he attended and graduated from Redlands High School in 1939. He joined the Army Air Corps and served as an aircraft mechanic from 1942-1946. He served in India, Burma and China, servicing B-24 bombers and P-40 s for the Flying Tigers. After his discharge, he worked in the house moving business. He became very successful in the trucking business in California and Arizona. He was reknowned around town as Lee Roy of Arnett Trucking. He is survived by his brother, Marion Arnett and wife Barbara (sister of Mildred) of Yucaipa; sister, Rosalie Kemp, of Ojai; sister, Mary Grimes of Calimesa; sister-in-law, Doris Arnett Broadbent of Yucaipa; stepdaughter, Sharon, her husband Jay DuVal, and granddaughter Sarah Du Val. Uncle Lee Roy also leaves 20 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews and 20 great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Clyde and Lela, he was preceded in death by two bothers, Fred and James Arnett. A member of the Elks Lodge in Yucaipa, Lee Roy was a dearly beloved man known to many in the Yucaipa area as Uncle Lee Roy or just Unk. He was a popular member of the Yucaipa Valley Historical Society. He enjoyed boating, air races and camping and made many trips in his motor home. He always loved parties and the holidays. He will be missed by all and will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
