Charles Dennis Mattson

Charles D. Mattson, (Chuck), 70, passed away May 19th, 2019 at his home in Redlands, Ca. Chuck was the oldest of 3 children born December 23rd, 1948 to Ragnar and Miriam Mattson of Royal Oak, Michigan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Becky Martinez Mattson of Redlands, Ca; his daughter Renee Rodarte of Phoenix, Az; his son Glenn Hoyle of Redlands, Ca; his brother Jim Mattson of Apache Junction, Az; his sister Mary Jo Mayer of Troy, Michigan; two grandchildren, Marlene Vasquez and Eli Hoyle; three great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and relatives, and his little canine buddy Mikie.
Chuck was a humble man who proudly served his country for 31 years before retiring as a MGY SGT in the Marine Corps. This big hearted man made it a tradition by opening up his home at every duty station during the holiday season to his troops who didnt have family near. He was currently involved with multiple military organizations.
He was an avid golfer. Loved his Detroit teams and nothing could pull him away from a Tigers game. Youd regularly find him at his local legion meeting with friends as well as greeting those who came through the door. His family was always first and foremost. He always looked forward to spending any time with them whenever possible. He quickly made friends wherever he went, had a high spirited personality and always made those around him laugh. We will miss his quick wit and infectious smile.
Service will be May 30th, 10:30 am at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 1205 Columbia St., Redlands. Celebration of life to follow at American Legion, 814 W Colton Ave., Redlands.
