Cecil Berlin Batchelor

Cecil Berlin Batchelor, 88,  of Yucaipa, passed away at home on November 1, 2018 due to heart failure.  He was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on December 4, 1929 to Berlin and Edna (Cooke) Batchelor. Cecil was number eight of ten children. After high school, he traveled throughout the midwest and Southern states playing baseball with the Dr. Pepper League, then followed his family to Upland Calif in 1950. After enlisting in the US Air Force in 1951 and while home on leave, he met the love of his life, Mary (Pat) Snyder.  They married in 1954 and moved to Alta Loma. Cecil moved his family to Yucaipa in 1960, where he began working for Holsinger's Hardware Store on Yucaipa Blvd, until the opportunity arose to manage the Imperial Hardware Store in Downtown Redlands. After the store closed, he became an independent furniture store owner and later owned a furniture refinishing business. Cecil was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Yucaipa where he held multiple offices. A lifelong Dodger fan, he was  fortunate to have experienced his favorite team play in one final World Series before his death. Cecil is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Pat) and his son, Tim. He is survived by four daughters; Sue Cameron, of Calimesa, Jeane Spaid and her husband Matt of Yucaipa, Terrie Berlin, of Fontana and Meagan Moore, of Hemet. Three  grandsons, Joshua Spaid, of Yucaipa, Jacob Spaid and his fiancé  Hang of San Diego, and Jeffrey Spaid and his wife Cristi of Yucaipa. One grand daughter, Katie Marquez and her husband Jayson, of Hemet and five  Great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A private graveside service will be held for family.
